In "The Mirror" Sylvia Plath personifies the mirror. It describes itself as a silver coloured smooth object. It is 'exact' without any preconceptions, likings and dislikes. Its greatest virtue is its objectivity. The mirror is not affected by appearances, preferences and prejudices. It is like the 'eye' of a four cornered little god viewing everything and everybody impartially. It is not cruel but only truthful. It is not like candles or the moon who are only 'liars'. It reflects faithfully, unbiased and fairly from all angles

The mirror is described as a true reflection of life. It is very truthful to the world.
