The narrator was convinced that she had come to the right address because when she saw the her mothers' cardigan on the other woman, she instantly recognized it.
She had also been given the address by her mother which she had kept with herself. Because of the repetitive looks at the same address again and again the narrator had actually learnt it. Furthermore, when she went inside the house she recognized all the belongings over there as well.
