→ India signed Panchsheel with China in 1954.
→ Panchsheel consisted of five principles. They are,
1. Mutual respect for each others territorial integrity and sovereignty.
2. Mutual non-aggression.
3. Mutual non-interference in each others internal affairs.
4. Equality and cooperation for mutual benefits .
5. Peaceful co-existence.
→ Later, these five principles of Panchsheel became the basis of Non-alignment movement.
→ NAM adheres to these above mentioned principles.
→ The five principles of co-existence were incorporated in the list of basic guide lines for the NAM to deter from involvement of these newly independent countries into wars.
