Petroleum is formed from dead remains of animals buried deep under the sea. Millions of years ago when many animals died they got buried under the sea. Slowly by the action of extreme temperature and pressure inside earth's crust the remains of the animals got turned to petroleum which we use as fossil fuels today

Petroleum (also known as crude oil or simply oil) is a fossil fuel that was formed from the remains of ancient marine organisms. Millions of years ago, algae and plants lived in shallow seas. After dying and sinking to the seafloor, the organic material mixed with other sediments and was buried.
