a. British followed the policy of divide and rule to break  the unity of the country after the revolt.

b. There was a major reorganization in the army. The number of European soldiers were increased considerably and were given all important high positions .

c. Indian soldiers of different castes were kept together to prevent them from unifying.

d. The British decided to recruit more soldiers from  Gurkhas, Sikhs and Pathans.​​

e. It cut short its recruitment from Awadh, Bihar which were important centres of revolt.
