How was the situation of education in India after independence

Actually the education system of India improved after independence... because the Britishers brought their modern way of teaching ...before the arrival of Britishers the students were taught under trees or at Guru's home ..their was no fixed syllabus...all the age group children studied together ....there was no fixed fee anyone give the amount they think as relevant... and they were no notebooks...oral teaching was done but after the arrival of Britishers...the system was completed changed they brought fixed syllabus, fixed fee, classroom and notebooks and many more fruitful changes...
these changes were continued after independence also
