The Stamp Act  of 1765 which was imposed on all paper documents differed from earlier taxes. Firstly it was an first internal tax and secondly it was a first direct tax, directly levied upon colonialists. The people protested against the act and we see in the next year 1766 it was repealed by the British.

Answer:C)The Stamp Act directly affected the colonists; taxes prior to the Stamp Act were indirect taxes, paid only by merchants.
