in shifting cultivation farmers cut the trees and burn them there and ash is mixed in soil. then crops are grown there for some till the fertility of the area is lost . then they shift their place to new place and do again cutting burning and agriculture.

Explanation:

Shifting cultivation is an age old system of production which involves in cutting, drying and burning of natural vegetation on steep slopes followed by dibbling of crop seeds. As the name indicates, the site of cultivation is shifted from one place to another after every 2-3 years (Borthakur, 1992)
