The wedding guest was one of the kin ie. one of the closest to the groom. As he was heading to wedding along with two of his friends who were also supposed to be attending the wedding, he was stopped in his tracks by the ancient mariner.
Even though he did not know the ancient mariner and neither did the mariner knew the wedding guest he had no other choice but to stop and listen to what the mariner wanted to say.
This resulted in the wedding guest getting frustrated.
