Pure water from the springs in nearby hills and elevated areas, was brought into the Bath through aqueducts. Some of these aqueducts were 90 kilometres away from such Baths. This water was then stored in huge cistern-like tanks from where it was fed into the baths using pipes, which ran under the gardens to the main building housing the bath. The entire flow of water was achieved by gravity.
The modern-day swimming pool is filled by powerful pumps, which accomplishes the job of filling in a matter of few minutes.
