Washing soda can be obtained from sodium chloride.

Baking soda is obtained from sodium chloride as follows.


On heating, baking soda produces sodium carbonate.


Recrystallization of sodium carbonate gives washing soda.

Na2CO3 + 10 H2O----------> Na2Co3.10H20
