Bawari. In Rajasthan, Step wells are locally known as Bawari and jhalara. These are sweet water aquifers getting a regular recharge through rain water. Bawaris were mainly set up in cities and big towns to provide a water supply to the community through conservation of rain water.

Water conservation in Rajasthan :;
1 ) It is done using johads which was introduced by waterman of India .
2) Rainwater Harvesting is just in Rajasthan, as there is lack of rain due to aravali ranges .
3) As Rajasthan is a barren land , water can be conserved using ponds , lakes , khadin , thanks etc......
4)Jhalara is also an important medium to save water in Rajasthan .
5) Bavri also helps them in water conservation
