Following are the ways to stop water pollution :-

1.  In villages, the people should be encouraged to use pits and latrines

2. The solid matter is separated from sewage can be used to generate biogas, which is a clean fuel.

3. The sewage water in big cities should be treated properly before being discharged into rivers.

4. The industrial waste should be treated with chemical substances so as to remove harmful metallic salts This treated water should be discharged into rivers.

5. Industries should also try to reverse the water treated in the Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP), where it is possible.

6. Hospitals, hotels and Municipal Corporation are also required to treat waste water before letting it flow into water bodies.
