Explanation:

Step 1: Add  sodium hydroxide to phenol in order to obtain sodium phenoxide ion.

Step 2: Now under the high temperature and and pressure add allow phenoxde ion to react with carbon dioxide gas to give salicyclic acid .Also known as Kolbe's reaction.

Step 3: reaction of saliccylic acid with acetic anhydride in presence of acetic acid will yield an aspirin as a product.
