* Plant more and more trees in our surroundings and nurture the ones already present.

* Discourage deforestation i.e. promote afforestation.

* Make people aware about how to protect our environment.

* Save water, electricity and natural resources.

* Willingly participate in occasions like Van Mahotsav and Chipko Movement.

* Reduce pollution.

*  Stop the use of plastics and polyethene bags and instead use clothe bags or paper bags.

* use biodegradable materials.

* Do not throw garbage anywhere.

The methods for the protection of the environment are -

1. Reforestation and Afforestation - It helps to encourage rainfall and prevent soil erosion.
2. Proper irrigation skills - It increases the nutrient concentration in soil which leads to better crop production.
3. Control of road construction - It also reduces soil erosion.
4. Compost - It helps to retain water, reduces soil erosion and run-offs, and increases vegetation.
5. RRR - “Reduce”, “Reuse”, and “Recycle” should be kept in mind. Recycling should be done properly with less waste production.
6. De-stocking - Reduction in the number of livestock. It results in less grazing of grass and plants and eventually reduces the chances of soil erosion.
7. Industrial waste management - Industries should be away from water bodies. Industrial wastes (gases and fertilizers) should be treated properly.
8. Control of fishing activities - Overfishing and the use of chemicals is not good for the flora and fauna of water bodies.
9. Conservation of electricity - Electricity should be used less. Solar panels, steam turbines, and geothermal methods are used for the production of electricity.
10. Vehicle pollution control - Bicycles, and less number of petroleum vehicles should be used for transportation.
11. Awareness - Spread awareness for environmental protection in different ways.
12. Encouragement of environmentally friendly technology - Encourage people in rural areas for these technologies by keeping these cost-effective.
