☆ Use of More Than One Method of Separation ☆
Sometimes, when more than two substances are mixed one method of separation is not sufficient. We have to use more than one method. For example, if we have a mixture of salt, sand and water, how will we separate all the three ? First of all, sedimentation is done so that the sand settle down in the bottom. Then, through the decantation we separate the upper layer of the water which has salt dissolved in it. This salt and water is then separated by evaporation and condensation.
Drinking water that reaches us also passes through many process of purification. River water undergoes sedimentation, decantation, loading and filtering. Only then it becomes drinkable.
