How we will.come to know that whether we have to take out volume or C.s.a or T.S.A. if it is not told????

it depends on sum

it we have to analyse capacity of a container,amt of wood used to make a pencil stand,mass bricks used to make a wall,.......volume is used
if u want paint a container ,cover its surface, we are using area

it is common that pipe is hollow cylinder so we cannot varnish top and bottom covering of pipe
and also while painting pillar we will not paint it's top and bottom covering as it's submerged with wall then CSA can be used
in other cases if it is mentioned we can use TSA
