Old ponds are areas of high algal content, along with the toxins and degraded organic products that are produced over the years. This needs to be cleaned from top to bottom to remove the weeds.

Explanation:

The weeds are very sensitive to the pH of the water. So, to disrupt the pH of the water, calcium carbonate or calcium oxide bunches are dumped in the pond water and waited for a few days.

All these weeds and the algae die. Now to remove them, the water of the pond is dried or drained to somewhere else. The pond is then dried fully to destroy any spores living. Then, water is filled up and pond is ready to be used once again.
