The rice weevil (Sitophilus oryzae) is a serious stored product pest which attacks several crops, including wheat, rice, and maize.

Weevils can destroy rice to a great extent. They are 3-4 mm long and they have long snout along with mouth parts which can help them chew.

The adult weevils feed on the whole rice seed or the flour. The larvae, however, develop on the seed or pieces of seeds or any other cereal products.
