The non-whites were discriminated as :
*they had no voting rights.
*the were forbidden from living in the areas where whites used to stay.
*they could work in white areas only if they had a permit.
*Trains,buses,taxis,hotels,hospitals,schools and colleges,libraries,cinema halls,theaters, beaches,swimming pool,public toilets were all separate for the whites and blacks.
*they couldn't visit the churches where the whites worshiped.
*Blacks couldn't form associations or protest against the terrible treatment.
