1) Swadeshi movement of Gandhiji helped to boycott British mill – made cloth and made the people to use Khadi even though it was a coarser and most expensive cloth to obtain
2) It helped the people to boycott British goods of all kinds and start their own industries for the manufacture of match boxes and cigarettes.
3) Mass protests followed and the use of khadi was made a patriotic duty. Women were urged to throw away their silk clothes and glass bangles. Instead they wore simple shell bangles.
4) This Swadeshi movement gave Gandhiji the idea of using cloth as a symbolic weapon against British rule. Even Mahatma Gandhi could be seen seated with bare chest and in short dhoti with a spinning wheel.
