From the early 19th century, there were intense debates around religious issues.Some criticised existing practices and campaigned for reform, while others countered the arguments of reformers.To reach a wider audience, the ideas were printed in the spoken language of the ordinary people.Eg: Raja Rammohan Roy published the ‘Sambad Kaumudi ’ and the Hindu orthodoxy commissioned the ‘Samachar Chandrika’ to oppose his opinions.

• The Indian religious beliefs were highly dependent on the religious books like Bhagvad Geeta,Ved, Upanishad etc. Before the arrival of printing culture in our country,the hand written religious books were used and those hand written books were limited to a small amount of people. But after the arrival of of printing culture,the printed religious books were distributed among large amount of people and the religious monopolies were demolished to some extent.
• Similarly, by the help of the printing technology,the newspapers, magazines and other books were getting published. In this way,the social aspects of the India was getting major changes and we observed social reformation.
