how were the great northern plains of India formed? give description.

well.... it's a bit simple.
due to the movement of the tectonic plates,millions of years ago,India was an island..
it travelled onto the north and collided with Asia which cause the 2 collided parts to rise up ..
it formed the great himalayas

The Northern plains was formed by the deposits brought in by the 3major rivers &tributeries.Alluviam was deposited at the foot-hills of the Himalayas for million of years.These deposits are now the Fertile Northern Plains.Alluviam is soil or sediments deposited by a river or othr running water
