Following points may help you:

1)  In the year 1919 Gandhiji gave a call for Satyagraha against Rowlatt Act, passed by British. It curbed the Fundamental rights such as the freedom of expression and strengthened the powers of police.

2)  Mahatma Gandhi felt that the government had no right to restrict people’s basic rights and freedom. They criticized this Act as ‘devilish’ and tyrannical.

3)  Hence, Gandhiji launched Rowlatt Satyagraha on April 6, 1919 by hartal which gradually took the form of all – India struggle against British government by a number of demonstrations, hartals, etc.

4)  This led to Jallianwala Bagh massacre which led to killing of thousands of people by General Dyer in Amritsar.

5)  Thus, a non violence struggle turned out to be violent protests which angered Indians worldwide against British atrocities.

Hope it's helpful for you mate

Have a good day :)

In order to enhance power over the people of India, the Rowlatt Act was passed by the British govt. The "Imperial Legislative Council" passed this legislation in March 1919 which allowed them to detain someone without trial. In order to abolish the act, Gandhi and other leaders called Hartal as an indigenous opposition to this law (suspension of work).

Explanation:

  • Rowlatt Satyagrah 's impact on India's political situation was enormous. Organized by Gandhiji, Rowlatt Satyagrah was against the Rowlatt Act, which gave the British govt huge powers to suppress Indian leaders' political activities
  • Protests and demonstrations in various towns were organised, workers in railway factories and shops closed  and went on strikes in opposition to the act. The British govt had tried to suppress the nationalist activities brutally
  • Local leaders had been picked up from Amritsar, & Gandhiji was stopped from entering Delhi.. Martial rule was enforced and General Dyer took command after the assaults on posts and railways by the Indian people. On 13 April 1919, "Jallianwala Bagh massacre" had taken place. The entire country was shocked by this event.
  • As the news spread, people in many northern Indian cities took to the streets. Strikes, police confrontations and government building attacks began taking place.
  • Therefore,  the "Rowlatt Satyagrah" had led to a rise in nationalist activities amongst people of the nation
