Dude I am not very sure but I think Himalayas were formed due to the collision of Tectonic plates in which one plate overlapped over the other which led to the upliftment of the earth and resulted in the formation of the Great Himalayas.

Himalayas were formed when to plates the indian subcontinent and the Chinese plate merged. they are actually follow mountains. the Indian subcontinent moved and now goes a top or below the Chinese plate. the Himalayas may be still growing.....
