chlorobenzene is an aromatic compound i.e chlorine atom is attatched directly to the aromatic ring which is benzene ..n the formula is C6H5-CL.. but chloroethane is an aliphatic hydrocabon...the formula is CH3CH2CL 2) add agno3 to benzyl chloride. benzene chloride has chlorine attached to side chain, so precipitate will be formed . in the case of chloro benzene no agcl precipitate will be formed as the chlorine benzene bond is strong due to resonance.
