consider the lamp as a point p and table as a plane. Then choose any two perpendicular edges of the table OX and OY. Measure the distance of the lamp i.e., P from the longer egde and let it be 30cm. Again measure the distance of the lamp from point P from the shorter edge let it be 20cm. Thus the position of table lamp is ( 20,30)...
