See,

Convex Mirror is the mirror which always produces virtual image whatever the case be.

"Virtual Images cannot be Obtained on a screen. "

So,if we use a convex mirror instead of concave mirror then we won't be able to get the image on the screen and we won't be able to measure focal length .

So, we don't use a convex lens. We use a concave lens which produces a real image which can be obtained on a screen and hence we can measure focal length.
