How will the equilibrium of following reactions be affected
1) N2(g) + O2 (g) ⇄ 2NO(g); 2) 4HCl(g) + O2(g) ⇄ 2Cl2(g) + 2H2O(g)

Answer:

1) there is no effect of pressure on equilibrium as total number of moles equal for product n reactant, by decreasing concentration of oxygen equilibrium shift towards reactant side n backward reaction is favourable.

2) by rise of pressure, equilibrium shift towards product side because as pressure increases equilibrium. shift towards that side from which number of moles decreases in this reaction number of moles of product are 4 and for reactant are 5 so equilibrium shift towards product side, by decreasing concentration of oxygen equilibrium shift towards reactant side n backward reaction is favourable.
