The information historians get from old newspapers would be different from that found in official reports because the official reports represent the view of the state and its interests. So these official reports may be biased and misrepresents the facts about an event. Besides the official records provide limited information about an event. On the other hand the old newspapers were mostly neutral and represented the facts as they were and from the view of common man. They provide a detailed information about an event as well.
