Let, one factor be "x" and the other factor be "y"

a. one factor is decreased 2 times, and the other is decreased 8 times

x/2 and y/8

x × y ⇒ x/2 × y/8 = (x × y)/16

The product has been decreased by 16 times

b. one factor is increased 4 times, and the other is increased 5 times

4 × x and 5 × y

x × y ⇒ (4 × x) × (5 × y) = 20 (x × y)

The product has been increased by 20 times

c. one factor is increased 12 times, and the other one is decreased 4 times

12 × x and y/4

x × y ⇒ (12 × x) × (y/4) = 3 (x × y)

The product has been increased by 3 times

d. one factor is increased 3 times, and the other one is decreased 6 times

3 × x and y/6

x × y ⇒ (3 × x) × (y/6) = (x × y)/2

The product has been decreased by 2 times

e. one factor is increased n times, and the other is increased 2 times

n × x and 2 × y

x × y ⇒ (n × x) × (2 × y) = 2n (x × y)

The product has been increased by 2n times

f. one factor is decreased m times, and the other is decreased 3 times

x/m and y/3

x × y ⇒ x/m × y/3 = (x × y)/3m

The product has been decreased by 3m times
