All ecosystems are capable of self maintenance. They generate their own self correcting measures to external factors like temperature, humidity etc. Out of all external factors, man and his socio-economic activities influence much to the environment. The socio-economic system of man depends on his needs for better living and financial gain Increasing demands and desires of human society creates a growing demand for various materials. Human being imposes various charges on environment.

Various human activities like housing, industries etc. destroy the natural resources of earth and become a threat to the survival of living beings including man. Thus, the need of the present time is for the human being to act as a rational and social partner in the management of environment.

For the human being to act as a rational and social partner in Environmental actions is to reduce or to minimise the impact of his activities on the environment. That is to use the environmental resources rationally and judiciously.
