This Conversion can be brought in 2 steps.  There will be 2 steps to solve this.

Step 1 ⇒

Benzoic Acid reacts with the Concentrated Ntric acid to form m-Nitro Benzoic acid.

Reaction is,

C₆H₅COOH  + HO-NO₂ ---------NO₂C₆H₅COOH

Step 2 ⇒

When this compound formed undergoes the Reduction in the Presence of the LiAlH₄, It will forms, m- Nitrobenzyl alcohol.

Reaction is,

NO₂C₆H₅COOH -----LiAlH₄------- NO₂C₆H₅CH₂OH

Refers to the attachment for the Diagramatical Representation.

Hope it helps.

Here the Benzoic acid which will be represented as the Benzene ring along with the attachment of COOH.

It is reacted in the presence of LiAlH4 and H2O which will give a Benzene ring with the attachment of CH2OH.

It will react in the presence of HNO3/H2SO4 which will give out m- Nitrobenzyl alcohol.
