Answer:
hydrogen gas when burnt in an atmosphere of nitrogen gas gives a pungent smelling colourless gas ammonia. this ammonia when in turn treated with hcl gas gives dense white fumes of ammonium chloride.
hydrogen can also be treated with sulphur which gives a colourless rotten egg smell like gas hydrogen sulphide.
whereas, Carbon dioxide passed into limewater gives a milky solution, due to precipitation of an insoluble suspension of calcium carbonate: Ca(OH)2(aq) + CO2(g) → CaCO3(s) + H2O.
on passing co2 in excess the milkiness disappears since bicarbonate so formed is water soluble.
