Permanent tissues are those that cannot divide further and are produced from meristematic tissues. In plants, they are classified as

1. Collenchyma

These tissues are made up of thin walled cells and provide support to the growing stem in young plants and also provide support and strength to the body of plant.

2. Sclerenchyma

These tissue are made up of thick walled and dead cells that are impermeable to water. They make up the hard part of the wood and the covering of seeds.

3. Parenchyma

These are made up of thin walled cells that are loosely packed allowing the spaces among them. They provide support and also stores food in the plant.
