When aniline reacts with acetyl chloride it gives N-phenyl ethanamide.

C6H5 NH2 + CH3COCl → CH3CO NH C6H5 + HCl

Aniline Acetyl chloride N−phenyl ethanamide

Hope it helps you out!!!

Answer:

Aniline on acetylation forms phenylethanamide.

Explanation:

Amines undergo nucleophilic acylation reactions when treated with acid chlorides or acid anhydrides to form N-substituted amides.

Acylation of aromatic amines is usually carried out in the presence of a catalyst. Acetylation with acetyl chloride is carried out in the presence of a base stronger than the amine, like pyridine, which removes the HCl and shifts the equilibrium in the forward direction.

Aniline on treatment with acetyl chloride in the presence of pyridine undergoes acylation to form N-phenylethanamide.

When acetyl chloride or acetic anhydride is used for acylation, the reaction is called acetylation.
