 \bold{ETHYNE}

Ethyne is an alkyle ,an unsaturated carbon compound .

 \bold{PREPRATION \: OF \:ETHYNE}

▶Ethyne can be prepared in laboratory by boiling 1 , 2 dibromoethane with hot concentrated alcoholic potassium hydroxide in a round bottom flask.

▶This process is carried out by Dehydrohalogenation.

It can be divided into two terms:-

✳Dehydro -Which means removal of water molecules.

✳DeHalogenation - Which means removal of halogen group from the compound.

So,

◼During reaction the halogen Bromine Br gets removed by dehalogenation which gets and forms a metalic halide.

◼The water molecules gets removed from the compound and the left carbon and hydrogen forms ethyne.
