Answer:

Here is

By the addition reaction by halogenation

CH=-C-CH3+Br2 -->CHBr=CBr-CH3

CHBr=CBr-CH3 +Br2-->CHBr2-CBr2-CH3

We can convert propyne to 1,1,2,2- tetrabromopropane

Explanation:

Propyne

  1. It is a member of alkyne .
  2. Its general formula is CnH₂n
  3. When any alkyne reacts with excess halogen in presence of carbon tetra chloride :halogen derivatives .

For example :

In case of propyne , if we add bromine to it in presence of Carbon tetrachloride it forms an intermediate 1,2 dibromo propene .

This 1,2 dibromo propene reacts with more bromine and forms 1,1,2,2-tetrabromopropane .

The reaction for the same is given below :

C₃H₄  +  Br₂--------> CH₂(Br)-CH₂(Br)----------> CH(Br)₂-C(Br)₂-CH₃

                    CCl₄                                 CCl₄
