a self sustainable artificial ecosystem (for eg. an aquarium ) can be created using the steps given below :
- a large jar or tank is selected and filled with clean water
- it is connected to an unrestricted oxygen supply (i.e. an oxygen pump or cylinder)
- aquatic plants( like water ferns, hydrilla etc.) and animals(eg. fishes are added along with sand pebbles .etc. to atimulate aquatic life.
- in an aquarium the aquatic plants act as producers and produce o2 , use co 2 released by consumers during the process of photosynthesis . decomposers clean up the the dead remains of organisms and act as natural cleaners of this ecosystem
