a self sustainable artificial ecosystem (for eg. an aquarium ) can be created using the steps given below :

  1. a large jar or tank is selected and filled with clean water
  2. it is connected to an unrestricted oxygen supply (i.e. an oxygen pump or cylinder)
  3. aquatic plants( like water ferns, hydrilla etc.) and animals(eg. fishes are added along with sand pebbles .etc. to atimulate aquatic life.
  4. in an aquarium the aquatic plants act as producers and produce o2 , use co 2 released by consumers during the process of photosynthesis . decomposers clean up the the dead remains of organisms and act as natural cleaners of this ecosystem
