first we can take a beaker and fill it with water . Now we have to dissolve salt/sugar in it with the help of glass rod . Now observe ....... there is no rise in the level of water ....thus we can conclude that particles of matter have spaces between them as salt and sugar dissolves and get into the spaces between particles of matter.
