if we add sugar to water it is dissolved in it.... it means that fills the space between water molecules... hence we can say that particles of matter have space between them........

Take a glass of water and pour some salt in it and mix it well.now observe the glass we will see that the particles get into the space between the water molecules.this activity proves that particles have space between them
