It can determine by two ways
1) PH
we know that the pure water has pH value of 7.
Take the given sample and dip a pH strip in it .There is change in colour of strip.Now , observe the colour at of strip.Refer to the pH chart and if the colour of strip doesn't match with the colour on the chart for pH of 7, that indicates presence of impurities in the sample
2) Boiling
we know that pure water has boiling poin 100 °C. Take the sample and boil it.keep recording the temperature by inserting thermometer in the sample. Note the temperature at which water starts changing its state and becomes vapours . If boiling temperature of sample is not 100°C then there is presence of impurities in the sample.
