1) Plane Mirror : When an object is placed quite close to a plane mirror, it forms a virtual and erect image of the same size as that of the object.

Concave Mirror : When an object is placed quite close to a concave mirror, it forms a virtual, erect and magnified image.

Convex Mirror : When an object is placed quite close to a convex mirror, it forms a virtual, erect and diminished image.

2) Concave lens : 1) It is thicker at the edges and thinner in the middle.
2) It diverges the rays of light, hence, it is known as the diverging lens.
3) It always forms virtual and erect image.
4) When an object is placed between the focus and the centre of the lens, it forms a virtual, erect and diminished image.

Convex lens : 1) It is thicker in the middle and tapering at the edges.
2) It converges the rays of light, hence, it is known as the converging lens.
3) It generally forms real and inverted image.
4) When an object is placed between the focus and the centre of the lens, it forms a virtual, erect and magnified image.
