Suppose a Rectangle ABCD and a diagonal AC

Now,

In ABC, by Pythagoras Theorem

[ because every interior angle of a rectangle is 90° ]

So,

AC² = AB² + BC²

AC = √AB² + BC²

Here, AC is the diagonal.

Similarly we can find the other diagonal ( i.e, BD )

BD = √AD² + AB²
