Rainwater harvesting is a water conservation method in which rainwater is either collected, treated and reused or artificially recharged to groundwater aquifers.

Whereas watershed management is the term used to describe sustainable management of the water resources in the given region. Features of a watershed that agencies seek to manage include water supply, water quality, drainage, stromwater runoff, water rights, and the overall planning and utilization of watersheds.

Rainwater harvesting can be done at individual level but watershed management is done on community level.
