When w add ethanol to sodium sodium ethoxide is formed with the liberation of hydrogen gas.
2C2H5OH + 2Na ------> 2C2H5ONa + H2.
Ethanoic acid produces sodium ethanote and water when reacted with NaOH.
NaOH + CH3COOH -----> CH3COONa + H2O.
Soap solution when mixed to hard water produces sc um and this can be used to identify that it is a soap solution as detergents produce lather even in hard water.
