Solution :-

We are provided with the value of Resistance :-

4Ω , 4 Ω and 2Ω

Now it is asked that how we can connect them in order to get a equivalent Resistance of 4Ω

Now First should know these

Resistance in series combination :-

In this circuit the electric current is same across the resistances

 R_eq = r_1 + r_2 + r_3 ... + r_n

Resistance in parallel combination :-

In this circuit the potential difference is same across the resistances

 R_eq = \left( \dfrac{1}{r_1} + \dfrac{1}{r_2}  + \dfrac{1}{r_3} ... + \dfrac{1}{r_n} \right)^{-1}

Now we have got a 2Ω resistors ,, So we can say that we can connect the 2Ω resistance in series in the circuit.

Now as we have connected them in series

→ 4Ω = 2Ω + R₁

Where R₁ is equivalent Resistance of 4Ω and 4Ω

Now we can connect our remaining two Resistances of 4Ω in parallel .

As

 R_1 = \left( \dfrac{1}{4} + \dfrac{1}{4}  \right)^{-1}

 R_1 = \left( \dfrac{2}{4}\right)^{-1}

 R_1 =  \left( \dfrac{1}{2}\right)^{-1}

 R_1 = 2 \Omega

So we will connect 4Ω and 4Ω in parallel combination then 2Ω in series with them .
