Answer:

Ice, Water and Vapour all show different characteristics.

Ice is rigid, has a definite shape and volume, has tiny intermolecular spaces, has high intermolecular attraction, low kinetic energy and doesn't diffuse, so it is Solid.

Water is not rigid, has a definite volume but not a definite shape, has medium intermolecular spaces and attraction, medium kinetic energy and diffusion rate and thus is a Liquid.

Vapour doesn't have a definite shape or volume, has the highest intermolecular spaces and negligible intermolecular forces, high kinetic energy a d diffusion rate and thus is Gaseous in nature.

Thus, we can say

As all three of these have different characteristics and properties, they are three states of a substance and not just one substance.
