Parallax method is used for measuring the distance & diamters of far stars/objects.

Let the moon of diameter d be viewed from distance x on earth surface. It makes an angle θ between the two eyes.

Then, the angle of parallax is given by -

θ = d / x

Diameter of the moon will be thus given by -

d = θ × x
