Reaction with sodalime{NaOH+CaO}
When you react sodium salt of ethanoic acid(C2H5COONa) with sodalime then a product having one carbon atom less means ethane will be formed.
Reaction is in the picture.It is called as DECARBOXYLATION.

Answer:
Sodium butanoate ( sodium salt of butanoic acid ) on heating with sodalime yields propane by decarboxylation.
CH3CH2CH2COONa + NaOH = CH3CH2CH3 + Na2CO3
Sodalime is a solid mixture of caustic soda and quicklime (NaOH + CaO).
